You can make, harvest, loot, trade, buy and receive items through missions. Most items go directly to your inventory, except bags. These items can be used to make other items, consumed for an effect on your character, sold for rubies, equipped for fighting, worn as clothing, traded, or learned for recipes.

Equipment text colors let you know how rare an item is. In order of rarity (most rare to common) they are: orange, purple, blue, green, white, and gray

Bags[]
Bags are a very special item in CoE, they increase your storage capacity. They automatically equip and you can use up to four bags a one time. With a starting capacity of 16 slots one can increase the number of slots available up to 96 slots. You will automatically equip the four largest bags you have, any remaining smaller bags will go into your inventory.
Bags are also special because they are an item that cannot be purchased from merchants with rubies. There are only a few ways to get bags, including, buying them with Ohai, receiving them as a reward from your minions, or trading with other players.
